情态动词

（一）基本分类:

可以分为以下六组：

can/could

Will /would

May /might

Must /have to

Shall /should /ought to /be supposed to do

Need /dare

但是这14个动词中“have to ”和“be supposed to do ”不属于情态动词，但是他们具有情态动词的特性，所以情态动词共六组12个。

每组情态动词的运用：

Can / could

表能力时：could 是can 的过去式；

表许可时：could 比can 更委婉；

表推测时：can 不能用于肯定句，但有两种情况下可以：a. 理论上不可能而实际有可能时；b. can 加only 时；

表有时时：can + be /get;

表惊讶、怀疑时：can /could 都能用。

下面来举例：

Can you speak English你能说英语吗？

Could you speak English(你以前能说英语吗？/你能跟我说英语吗？）根据语境来翻译。

It can only be my teacher. 他肯定是我的老师。

He can be angry . 他有时会很生气。

will / would

表将要时：would 是will 的过去式；

提出建议或请求： would 比will 更委婉；

Would like : 由do变时表词而来；

习惯、倾向性：will 表现在，would 表过去；

带出想象的结果：would 。

注：表将要时：be going to do （时态）表示打算，准备；但是will /would表结果。

Do you like/want a cup of coffee句中用“would”时，更委婉。

What do /would you like

Everyone gets old.一般现在是表示真理=Everyone will get old .

Used to do sth .以前常常做某事，相当于表习惯、倾向性时的would。

He will be angry . (仅仅表示结果）/ He would be angry .（带有画面感）

You will look beautiful . / You would look beautiful .

May / might

表允许：

请求允许：只能用在第一人称疑问句中，might 比may 更委婉；

给予允许：只能用在第二三人称陈述句中，只能用may.

2.表推测：

May 不能用于疑问句句首，也就是一般疑问句，might 比may 的可能性更小，如果想变大，加well ,表示加强语气；

3.表祝愿：may +称述句 （动词用原型）

4.表不妨，还是：may /might +as well

举个例子：

May/might I coming

You may coming .

You may start .

He might well be a teacher.

May you study English well.

May he study English well .（情态动词后加动词原型，第三人称动词不用加“s”）

must / have to

Must ：一定；

Have to :不得不

must表主动，have to 表被动；

Must 可以表示推测，mustn’t 和 have to 不能表推测；

对must 的否定回要用not have to或not need to .不能用mustn’t.

区分两句话的意思:

He must be a teacher .

He mustn’t be a teacher .

shall /should /ought to /be supposed to do

shall 用于第一三人称疑问句中表征求意见；

shall用于第一人称陈述句中相当于will，表将要；

Shall用于第二三人称陈述句中表命令、警告、承诺、决心等。

2.Ought to 比 should 语气重，场合更正式；

3.Should 等于 be supposed to do ,可表推测。

Shall 只能征求我或他/她的意见.

You shall never come again .你再也不要来了。

I shall do that .我承诺。

He should be in beijing now .

Need / dare .

need 和 dare 有情态动词与实义动词两种用法：在疑问句与否定句中，两种都可以用；在肯定句中只能用实义动词。

Need doing 可表被动。
