rather

两个单词后面接的单词形式不一样。Instead of重点词在of上。它是个介词，所以Instead of后面接名词性结构。Rather than前后成分在形式上必须保持一致，就有可能出现代词主格，动词的各种形式，但关键是和与它对比的结构形式要一致。

rather than的例句：It now seems a probability rather than just a possibility（这件事似乎十拿九稳，而不是仅有可能）；instead of的例句：The islanders use a system of barter instead of money（岛上的居民实行的是以物易物，而不是用货币）。
