①hold over
延期；以……威胁

②hold up
举起；阻挡；拦截

多数情况下，hold 后面直接跟介词 up, in 什么的，hold up: 举起、承受住。。。；hold over: 推迟、延期。。。；hold in：克制、忍受。。。。中间夹了“sth.", 就没有固定的词组意义了，其后面的up，over, in 作为介词，应该还有跟有介词宾语，才能表达完整的意思。因此，根据阶词宾语的不同，意思也会不一样：Hold this book in your hand. Hold this bike in right position.....
